Max and Christina || A Balboa Park Engagement Session

I know I share a lot of sessions from Balboa Park. It’s not so much that I want to be a one-trick pony as it is that I am grateful every day for such a beautiful location to work in.

When Christina and Max reached out to me about planning their wedding photography, I brought up the idea of an engagement session; while engagement photos aren’t strictly necessary, they give us such a great opportunity to get to know each other, to let me see how much or how little direction makes everyone comfortable and gets us the results we want. Additionally, it lets us take photos at a place that might be impractical on the actual wedding day, without the pressure of timelines looming overhead.

I already liked them from our initial conversations, but when Christina pulled out her camera bag and offered me a bunch of prism filters to play with, it really cemented for me that we were going to have an amazing time!

We visited a lot of my favorite spots in Balboa Park: Palm Canyon, the reflecting pond, the Old Cactus Garden, and the Alcazar Garden. Their session turned into sort of a “best of the park” tour!
