Melissa || A Light, Bright Boudoir Session in the Gaslamp Studio (NSFW!)

I think one of the best parts of working as a photographer in San Diego is the amazing, supportive, and connected photography community I get to share in.

When I first started shooting boudoir, I wasn’t sure what I was doing at all and wanted to get some practice in before taking on clients. I had to be certain that what I would deliver was a service worth putting my name on. Melissa was one of the friends I enlisted for help at that very first session. She was amazingly patient with me, offered me feedback, and omg, the photos were stunning! I was absolutely hooked on the work after that first day of shooting.

It makes me so happy that I get to share a recent session I photographed with her. One of the most challenging things about shooting boudoir is that the MOST important thing for me is making sure you feel not just delighted, but completely secure in the privacy of your session. This means that I often don’t have much to show the public of the work that I do in this area. When Melissa told me I could share anything I wanted to from the session, I just about did a backflip. I’m so excited to be able to show y’all a little more of what it looks like to book an intimate portrait session with me. I was tempted to post every single photo we took; she’s got such a great energy, and we took her session from joyful to smoldering and back. I’ve tried to exercise a little restraint in selecting these, but the entire session is available for prospective clients to view – just message me. If you’d like to see more of her in general, you should check out her burlesque page on Instagram!

We photographed these in my Downtown San Diego photography studio, located in the heart of the Gaslamp District around mid-afternoon, for a bright and airy look! I’ll share a nighttime session soon to show the difference, but I’ve talked enough and I know you’re here to see some stunning photos, so without further ado, here you go.
